It gives you the chance to purchase the 2023 vintage wines while they are still maturing in oak barrels at the châteaux in France. Here, O'Briens Wine Director, Lynne Coyle Master of Wine shares her thoughts on the 2023 vintage.

"Following our trip to Bordeaux in April to taste the 2023 vintage, we have handpicked a selection of wines that reflect the alluring quality and excellent value this vintage will be remembered for. Once again during the growing season, nature's hand dealt challenging conditions in the vineyard.
But, as we predicted, good properties made good wines; wines with vibrant fruit, intensity and depth of flavour, and structured integrated tannins that will grant long ageing. Pauillac, Bordeaux €660 for a 6 bottle case (31% price drop versus 2022 vintage)
“As usual one of the chunkier, broader-shouldered wines of the Médoc, the 2023 Lynch-Bages exhibits aromas of dark berries and cassis mingled with pencil shavings, licorice and pipe tobacco, framed by creamy new oak. "A clear contender for wine of the vintage. Deep, purple colour on the rim. Some soft herbal and floral aromatics, milk chocolate. A real sense of understated power as Lafite does so well. Not so demonstrative at all, but there’s a gorgeous charming delicacy to this - fine powdery blue fruit tannins with edges of liquorice and slate. Smooth and supple, excellent weight in the mouth, light and streamlined... Ends with subtle graphite and wet stone, long and lingering though. Just delightful, so elegant and finessed. 2. You will receive a confirmation email and receipt for your order. Please disregard any reference to shipping/delivery in these automated emails. We will contact you as soon as your wines arrive in 2026 – the delivery cost is included in the price you pay today.
3.In the summer of 2026 you will be invoiced for the Excise Duty and Vat on the excise duty.**
4. The 2023 wines will be bottled and released by the châteaux in the summer of 2026 and will then be shipped to your preferred location in Ireland.

**In compliance with Irish tax laws, VAT on the wine is payable now and included in the case price of your wine (currently 23%). Duty will be charged at the rate set by Revenue when the wines arrive in the country, which will also be subject to VAT. For estimation purposes the current Excise Duty rates in Ireland are €3.19 per bottle (€19.14 per 6 bottle case) plus 23% VAT.
How does it work?
Once the vintage is released, you can pay a deposit online to secure your order.
You will receive your wines intwo years time when they arrive in Dublin in summer 2026 after bottling in Bordeaux. There is a chance the value of these wines may increase in the future and purchasing at a fixed price now can often be a good investment.*
Just to note, the deposit price is inclusive of VAT and delivery from France to your preferred location in Ireland upon release in 2026.
